Yep, that’s right – instead of the usual water you’d use to cook wild rice, you can either use all stock or a mix of half water / half chicken stock.
And this technique works with any flavor you prefer. So go ahead and use beef broth or veggie broth. The results are delicious!

Cranberry Wild Rice
This savory wild rice recipe gets a pop of color and sweetness from cranberries. It’s the perfect recipe for a holiday feast, or well… any old Tuesday evening. And since you can make it in your rice cooker, you’ll be cooking with the press of a button!
- Place rice, cranberries, chopped green onions and salt in the inner pot. Pour broth and mix.
- Set the inner pot in the rice cooker and select the [Mixed] menu. Press the [Start] key.
- When cooking is complete, serve on a plate.
Ingredients below are for a 5.5-cup cooker. Double the ingredients for a 10-cup cooker.
- 1 cup Wild rice (U.S. measuring cup)
- 1 1/2 cup Chicken broth
- 1/4 cup Cranberries
- 1 stalk Green onions
- 1 tsp Salt
