HOW TO MAKE A HOT TODDY
Part of the genius of the hot toddy is that it’s just a simple cocktail. Mix a few ingredients together, and – voilà, you’re ready to start sipping.
And, with your Tiger hot water heater and dispenser, the most time consuming step of waiting for water to boil on the stovetop just became an afterthought.
However, it’s precisely the hot temperature of this classic potion that helps it really work to ease cold symptoms.
You see, whiskey is a wonderful decongestant. In moderation, it works by dilating blood vessels that can help your body loosen mucus. And the hot water helps your body break up and easily expel it.
Add a little soothing honey for your sore throat – and lemon for your vitamin c fix, and this is a real cold buster.
But in reality, whether you’re fighting a brutal cold, or just watching tv after a tough day at work, a hot toddy is a great, cosy-on-the-couch winter drink!
BRANDY VS WHISKEY
One of the best parts of making this honey and lemon loaded hot alcoholic drink is that you can use whichever spirit you prefer (or whatever’s handy in the liquor cabinet).
And while we must confess that we prefer whiskey, feel free to use brandy or even rum in your own homemade hot toddy.
Sure, doctors aren’t prescribing medical whiskey any longer. That went out with prohibition, ha!
But hopefully this winter-warming libation will get you through your flu-instigated rough patch and on to a speedy recovery.
